Episode 9 – SIR MICHAEL JONES

Sir Michael Jones

All Blacks Legend

“The Iceman” is unquestionably one of the greatest rugby players of all time, but his skill on the field only paints half the picture of Sir Michael Jones.

He changed the game with his dynamic play. He also showed incredible strength to come back from a serious injury to develop into the best player in the world in a different position and prioritising his faith over the sport that made him an international superstar.

All of these facets made this proud Samoan one of the most admired and respected people in Aotearoa, New Zealand. However the label “leader” with all its responsibilities and influence never sat well with him during his time as an All Black.

Now, he fully embraces that position as a figurehead to make positive change for Pasifika through education and sport.

What drove him to be one of the all time greats? What drives him now to develop greatness in his people?

This is his story – Sir Michael Jones – Indigenous 100
